The prestigious screenplay competition is moving from London to Los Angeles!
Best Script Awards – Los Angeles is a competition for feature-length and short film screenplays, TV pilots, as well as a competition for adapted screenplays, comedy, drama and horror. It is also open to produced films. Among our reviewers and film industry professionals are individuals whose work has qualified for the Oscars, as well as members of organizations such as FilmIndependent, WGA, PGA and DGA, alongside acclaimed showrunners and television writers.
LIMITED TO 1,000 SCREENPLAYS
Each season, we accept a maximum of 1,000 screenplay submissions to ensure that every entry receives the attention and professional evaluation it deserves.
THE CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS REMAINS OPEN UNTIL 1,000 SCREENPLAYS ARE REACHED OR THE FINAL DEADLINE ARRIVES – WHICHEVER COMES FIRST.
Screenplays are evaluated by experienced screenwriters, filmmakers, producers, television professionals and industry experts.
Among our jury leaders is Danielle Quinoa, who has judged Oscar-qualified festivals including Atlanta Film Festival, deadCenter Film Festival, Heartland Film Festival and San Francisco Film Festival. She previously worked as a talent agent, representing careers including Julia Garner, Rachel Brosnahan and Anthony Ramos.
Our jury also includes Erik Jasaň, whose film qualified for the Academy Awards. He has also served as a pre-selector for Oscar-qualified festivals including Indy Shorts and Hawai'i International Film Festival, as well as the BAFTA-qualified Norwich Film Festival. Our jury also includes professionals from countries such as the United States, Ireland, Australia, Portugal, Italy, Norway and others.
AWARDS & WINNER BENEFITS
Winners receive a 1-year Sundance Membership, $500 worth of media publicity including an interview, a dedicated social media post and inclusion in our Online Library for Producers.
They also receive read-only access to an Oscar-nominated screenplay, providing a unique opportunity to study professional screenwriting.
Each winner receives an Official Diploma, while New Wave category winners receive the same benefits across a wide range of specialized screenplay categories.
PROFESSIONAL FEEDBACK
In the Short Entry + Pro Analysis category, you receive up to 3–5 pages of professional Hollywood-style coverage and a 10-point screenplay analysis covering character, conflict, dialogue, marketability, structure, pacing, theme, tone and concept.
MORE THAN A COMPETITION
Our awards provide promotion, interviews, educational opportunities and more than $10,000 worth of services annually. Winning and selected screenplays may also be included in our online screenplay library, which we actively promote to film directors and producers.
